Day 12

Chrissie reporting-

We started out the day by walking from our efficiency to the Venice Boardwalk, which is only a few blocks away. It was just as I remembered ... really unique people, to say the least. I love it though! We saw a group of street performers breakdancing; a drum circle; fortune tellers; and many other interesting people. There were dogs everywhere! People here bring their dogs with them wherever they go ... there were a lot of chihuahas. It was kind of weird how many chihuahas we saw.

Then came the most exciting part (for me)! We noticed some signs stating that there was filming taking place just ahead. So we walked up, and the first person I noticed was LL Cool J! Then I saw Chris O'Donnell. I didn't find out until later, from Mike, that they were filming an episode of NCIS: Los Angeles. It's some cop show or something ... I don't watch it, but it was really neat to see it being filmed! One of the staff members was telling "the spectators" (us) to act concerned. She was really energetic, and friendly. Wanted to get the crowd into it. The scene being filmed was about a car bomb that has gone off in the middle of the Venice Boardwalk area. There was even what I hope was a fake, burned skeleton in the driver's seat of the car. She told us the scene will air in the first episode of the season, which starts in September. Tune in! You may even see us in the crowd!

Mike chiming in! Chrissie started her day by walking to the boardwalk at noon. I had already been up trying to find a parking spot for what seemed like forever. Every Monday and Tuesday street cleaning takes place, and our side of the street had to be cleared or else we'd have a ticket. Parking must be perfectly reasonable every other day, but when all of the cars have to fit in half the space, not one spot is available. I wasn't the only car pulling U-turns and driving around and around, trust me.

Anyway, we left the boardwalk and got in the car to find the Venice Canals, which were really cute, but we're walking there in the morning to get a closer look. Then we drove to Beverly Hills and were appropriately impressed by the views and driveways. I didn't recognize the Fresh Prince's place, although I was looking. We drove by the Beverly Hills Hotel and the Chateau Marmont, and Rodeo Drive. Then we stopped by a grocery store and a car wash, since we were hungry and Alf was dirty.

I just watched the NL beat the AL for the first time in a while (sad face) while sipping a Boddington's and digesting some mac n cheese. Tomorrow is beach day, so I'm calling it a night!
