Mike's too tired, Chrissie reporting-
So, today was pretty uneventful. I mean, we thought it would be eventful, but it wasn't. Our plans were to go to a movie, then walk around Rodeo Drive, have some food, and then finally (after the sun had set) go to the Griffith Observatory.
We woke up pretty late, at around 10:30, and decided we wanted to go see Inception. For those of you who may not know, Inception is a movie by Christopher Nolan that came out last Friday. He's a pretty great director, and we've seen a lot of his movies, so this was on our "to watch" list. I found the closest movie theater, which was in Santa Monica at Third Street Promenade. The area was really packed, it was a Sunday after all, but we finally found parking. We found good seats, and enjoyed a movie and popcorn. I personally thought the movie was awesome! It was just a great overall concept, great acting, made me constantly think about what was happening, instead of just absorbing it. SO GOOD.
After the movie, we tried to find a place for dinner. Emphasis on TRIED. We got stuck in traffic, again, and then after searching found an overpriced Mexican restaurant on Sunset Boulevard that Mike wasn't too happy with. It was ok I guess, the location was good for people watching. But the food wasn't very good. There were some guys from England sitting next to us that were providing us with free entertainment. They were playing a drinking game; they kept having to do push-ups in the middle of the restaurant. It was quite fun.
Then we headed toward the Griffith Observatory. We THOUGHT it would take us about 10 minutes .... but ... you guessed it .... we were wrong. If we had been able to drive down the main road to the observatory, we would have made it in time. We got to the road, and there was a sign saying that the road was closed, to please use Vermont Avenue. So, we thought it best to follow the sign's advice. We drove all the way down Vermont Avenue, and were met with another sign stating that the observatory was closed for an event. From the looks of it, there was some sort of concert happening. It kind of looked like a Christmas concert, although it clearly wasn't. Needless to say, we didn't see the Los Angeles skyline or any stars.
We figured it would be wise to call it a day. And so we did. Bed time!
